trying to respond to Morgan Kahn re: Andrew Ramsay

Hi Morgan,

I was googling for information about Andrew Ramsay from Ireland and saw your question. We seem to share the same relative. My grandfather was Fred Ramsay, son of Michael Andrew Ramsay & Mary Elizabeth Jarrett, son of Andrew Ramsay & Hannah Keffer. I have just spent the last 2 days trying to search every possible link to tie Andrew to Ireland. I confirmed him in Canada in the 1861 census, however that record records his Birth date as 1831 ireland. It definately listed him as a blacksmith and finally gave me the confirmation I had been searching for on the names of his children. My understanding from my grandfather is that Andrew's father was named Michael, as well, but have not been able to find anything to link the names. If you have any further information, I would love to know what you have and what branch of the family you are. I have never met any of the Ramsay relatives in Ontario.
