I located the 1869 civil birth index record for Catherine but could not locate a civil death index record. I did find one in 1898 which was likely for her mother. I did find an 1895 civil marriage index record.

Is it possible that your Catherine married one of the men listed in the record?

A point of explanation. Lime Hill isn?t the name of a farm. It?s the name of a townland (which is an Irish system of dividing up land), of 1436 acres. Griffiths Valuation for 1859 lists 116 households there., including the McElhones It lists Bernard McElhone as having plot 2 on that townland, shared jointly with John McElhone. (A brother perhaps?). It was a farmhouse, outbuildings and measured 25 acres, 2 roods and 30 perches. Today that farm is on the Gortscraheen Rd, just outside Pomeroy.

The revaluation records show John?s name removed in 1879 and the farms were then combined. Bernard?s name remains there till 1914 when it changes to Sarah McElhone then in 1915 to Edward Nugent.

Probate of the Will of Bernard McElhone late of Limehill Pomeroy County Tyrone Farmer who died 1 December 1912 granted at Armagh to Sarah McElhone the Widow. Effects ?42.

You can read the full will on-line on the PRONI wills site. He left a life interest in the farm to his wife (named Ellen) and then on her death it went to Peter his son.

In 1924, Peter McElhone acquired the adjacent plot no 3.

The death that Roger has found for Catherine McElhone was on 24.3.1898, aged 63. Bernard seems to have remarried, to Sarah Galbraith, on 25.6.1898. You can view a copy of that marriage cert on the GRONI site for ?2.

The man that Catherine may have married in 1895 was named Patrick Quin. Again you can view that certificate on the GRONI site.The townland and father's name should help decide whether it's the daughter you are interested in.
