My g-g-grandmother Ellen (Eleanor), Carr (Corr) lived in Glenbeg, County Tyrone. Irish Roman Catholic. She was born in 1830 and eloped to Scotland, with a horse groom named John Donnelly (so the story goes), their daughter Elizabeth Donnelly was born in Glenbeg in 1866. In 1881 they were living in Durham, England and John was listed as an ironworker. They lived in Connecticutt (USA) for a while later coming to Victoria, B.C. in 1886 Irish Roman Catholic.
Could you please tell me where to look (or who to contact) in the vicinity of Pomeroy (Glenbeg is a Townland in Pomeroy) to locate a register of births or other information?
I will be arriving in Ireland on June 16th and will be going to Tyrone in the hopes of finding some more information.
Many thanks
Elaine

Elaine:
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864. Glenbeg is in the Dungannon registration district. I located the following civil birth index record for an Elizabeth Donnelly. Preumably this is for your ancestor. You can go to the GRONI site and get a copy of the record. https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
I believe the cost is 2 pounds.
