Looking for info on Rosetta Hopkins, b. abt 1825, in Limehill.  Parents listed as Owen and Elizabeth (O'Neill), but on her death certificate in Danvers, MA, USA, her parents were llsted as John and Jane (O'Neill).  She had a brother, Owen, who married Mary McGuckian and a sister, Betty,  who married Edward O"Neill.  There was a Catherine, relationship unknown, but who was a sponsor at a baptism for Rosetta's child in Montreall, Canada.  Rosetta was in Montreal by, or before 1849 as her first son was born in 1850.  She married Mathew Kearns/Kerans?Kernan of Ireland.

  • Hi there,

There are Roman Catholic church records available for Pomeroy (Armagh) dating from 1837 for both baptismal and marriage records. These are available from the National Library of Ireland, Pos. 5585, or the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI), MIC.1D/36.

You could also try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffth's Valuation (1848-64). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at. You might find other relatives living in the area in the Griffth's documents.

Hopefully, someone from the local community will recognise the names and help you out futher.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

    Sinead Cooney
