I am researching the genealogy of my great grandfather John McLaughlin who is recorded as arriving in Sydney, Australia  on 28 March 1841 aged 18, with his brother Patrick aged 19, from "Termonamongan, near Killeter". They are described as farm labourers, and their parents are recorded as Robert McLoughlin (farmer) and Sally Shanahan, both deceased. From other research we think that  the mother's first name was Mary rather than Sally, and believe that the transcription of the record may be in error.

I would like to contact any persons researching this family.

I am also interested in Daniel Lynch and his wife Mary McLaughlin (sister of John McLaughlin) who arrived in Sydney in May 1841, having come from Castlederg, Castlederrick, Tyrone. Daniel is described as a carpenter and both are aged 22 Years.

Unfortunately, Termonamongan RC records do not start until 1863.

You may want to check out http://www.cotyroneireland.com/  I checked the Tithes listings and there were two McLaughlins in Termonamongan parish although they were not listed in Killeter.
