  • Hi, I just seen your message.  I am actually one of the mcbride family from coalisland (well technically).

My grandmother was Sarah Hughes (nee McAliskey), When her husband Joseph Hughes died in 1937 she went on to remarry Joseph McBride.  She had two sons with him before she herself passed away in 1954 (John (known as Jackie) and Patrick).  After her death Joseph McBride went on to remarry (Elizabeth) and also had another son (Ignatius).

Im not sure if this is the same connection but i don't know too many mcBrides from outwith this connection in the area.  There is still quite a few decendants of John, Patrick and Ignatius in the area

Let me know if any of this is of use to you

  • Hi Gerry,

I think your McBrides are way later than mine were.  I don't know if they would have been related or not.  No way to know without knowing who your Joseph was descended from.  I know Isabella had a father John McBride that would prob make his birth in the mid to late 1700's.  I think she may have had brothers John and Alexander McBride also. The was a Patrick McBride too.  That's all I know.  They all came to Philadelphia early 1800's from Cty Tyrone.  Thanks!
