Hugh Kinley settled at Bloomhill house around 1870 after returning from Philadelphia, Pennsyvannia.  He was in Philadelphia in 1850 and 1860 records and apparently amassed somewhat of a fortune during the Amercian Civil War.  He came from Northern Ireland (somewhere). His children (along with 4 children who were born and died in infancy in Philadelphia) were Hugh Washington Kinley, John Stevenson Kinley, James Brooks Kinley and Agnes Brooks Kinley (Agnes married Charles Lovett Gaussen Magill). His wife was Agnes Brooks, daughter of James Brooks.  Hugh died in 1879 at Bloomhill and is buried at the Old Donaghendry Cemetary near Stewartstown.

We have found nothing about the ancestors or birth place of Hugh Kinley (1796-1879) and would love to know who they might be and how he came to a 'fortune' in America...and why he returned.

Apologies for the long delay in getting back to you. Have you had a look to see if there are any local news articles naming Hugh or his work in Philadelphia? You should also have a look on rootsireand.ie to see if there is any mention of him in parish baptism records. A second port of call is the free website irishgenealogy.ie

The PRONI website may also have further info on Bloomhill
