Hello there!  First let me say thank you to the kind people who put this wonderful project together.  What a gift to be able to post inquiries to people who live in the area of our ancestors home. I am Eva Robinson,  a great, great granddaughter of Hugh Patrick McSweeney.  James McSweeney and Mary Ruth Smyth,  Hugh's parents, came to America in 1851with 4 of their children, leaving behind older children Ann Theresa, Margaret, James, and Thomas.  (James had owned a pub on High Street in Dungarvan, renting the property from the Duke of Devonshire).  The family settled in Yonkers,New York. Ultimately, Hugh settled in Eufaula, Alabama and married the girl he met in Atlanta during his Civil War service for the Union Army.

Are there McSweeneys still in the Dungervan area?  Looking forward to any info.  Thanks,

Eva Robinson
