Do you have any other information on Alexander that you could share? Do you know anything about his emigration? When did he emigrate, who did he emigrate with? If you could find his emigration records this would help confirm his Irish origins and also may give you more information on him. You could also try looking in church records for confirmation on Alexander's birth in Ireland.

Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be of help to you is the irishtimes website where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes.
