Hi, I had a previous post about my Crowley research for Lismore. I had a researcher in Dublin search the valuation office. In Book 1 of Lismore valuations, 1855-1876 my great great grandfather is found at plot 71. I know he was a publican and Butcher. Is there any way of finding where that would be today? We will be there on Wednesday and Thursday of next week! So excited.

    cdynan,

In relation to your query, Slater's Directory 1870 records Michael Crowley having his business as a butcher and publican in Main Street, Lismore.

Main Street is only a short street and if you make enquiries on your arrival, the present day shopkeepers should be able to identify the building.

See map attached which shows Church Lane as well as Main Street and Main Street West.

    Best Wishes,

  • Further information on Main Street - Copy of Old Photo - Source: National Library of Ireland - Dublin.

In relation to previous Post Main Street West, should be Main Street East.
