John J. Krby; b. Kilbeg,Co. Waterford 1833 , son of William Kirby & Mary Cleary.  John  married Mary Foley, dau of Davit  Foley & Mary Hennessey, in Tallow RC Church Co. Waterford on 16 Feb.1858.  The couple had 12 children.  The first 6 were born in the Ballyduff area of Lismore & Mocollop Parish ; Margaret Kirby b, 1858, Margaret Kirby b, 1860, William Kirby b.862, Johanna Kirby b1864, Davit Kirby b.1866, John Kirby b.1868. The family moved to Co. Cork Ballynoe  and Fermoy areas:  Catherine E. Kirby b. 1870, Thomas Kirby b. 1862, James Kirby b. 1874, Michael Kirby b. 1876, Redmond/Richard Kirby b. 1879, and Alice G Kirby  b.1881.  During the middle 1800s the family immigrated to the U.S.A., Boston Massachusetts area.

Now I am trying to learn more about my Foley family.    Thank you for helping me.

    I'm not finding records for the Foleys on the subscription site Roots Ireland. No David Foley marriage to a Hennessy. No baptismal records for Foley children with a mother with the surname Hennessy. The Tallow RC records go back to 1797 so they must have belonged to a different parish.

    There were five David Foley records in the Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Waterford. The townland is shown after Foley followed by the civil parish.

  • Hi Janet, you might check to see if you have the correct marriage date for Mary Foley as there are no marriage records for Tallow parish for 1858.  I was told a book got lost at some stage also no baptisimal records from 1842 to 1856. If you do find the correct record you may be able to see a Townland for Mary Foley or Foly. Regards Will.
