My great grandparents John McNaughten, a farmer of Mullantur townland and Ann Jane Redpath of Drumnaleg were married in the Parish of Ballymore 22 June 1854. Ann's sister Elizabeth Redpath married James Harden in the same parish 12 January 1863. The next month Elizabeth & James sailed for a new life in New Zealand. Ann & John McNaughten followed them arriving in Auckland, NZ March 1864. At that time they had 3 daughters with them. Later in NZ they had 6 sons and another daughter.
While still residing in Tandragee John was farming but later he is listed as a carpenter, which is what his father also a John McNaughten is listed as in the Marriage register. In some NZ records my gt grandfather refers to being from Springfield farm. Perhaps he worked there. When Ann Jane passed away 6 June 1903 her Death Notice in the Auckland newspaper 'wife of John McNaughten, late of Springfield Farm Tandragee, County Armagh, Ireland. Home papers please copy.'
I am visiting Ireland in July and would dearly love to meet any 'cousins' still residing in Ireland.

Have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see if there were any McNaughton families recorded as living in the area at the time? You can search these here:

Also, it may be an idea to contact Armagh Ancestry to see if they can be of any assistance and find some information for you before you come over. However a fee may apply. Here is their email: researcher@armagh.gov.uk
Unfortunately, we do not have a volunteer organised in that parish just yet. Hopefully as we continue to grow we will get someone there soon. Sorry we could not be of more assistance right now. I do hope that you have a lovely visit and that Armagh Ancestry are able to assist you.
