John Joe:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We omly have access to civil birth records up to 1916 because of the 100 year privacy rule.I looked for civil marriage records at the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie I located a 1919 marriage record for Anthony Carroll and Mary Nicholson which is likely for your grandparents. The names of the fathers of the bride and groom are shown on the record.

Does anyone know how easy it is to get parish records. I think this is where my fathers birth will be registeted.

John Joe:
If you know the parish, you should e-mail them to see if they can assist. Hopefully, there is a parish secretary available.
Roger.

John Joe:
Marriage records are online up to 1941 at present at www.irishgenealogy.ie For marriages later than 1941 perhaps this site will be helpful http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx

John Joe, I may be able to help with further research on your Carroll family from Kilbeggan if you email eamonhiggins@eircom.net as I will be in the genealogy research centre, Dublin in coming days where I can check more recent records that are not online e.g. marriages from 1940. VH
