Hello everyone, hope you are all doing great

Recently, I found the baptism record of my great great grandmother, Anne Parker, born 17th of July of 1823, who´s parents were Daniel Parker and Margaret Geraghty, and took place in Rathown, Westmeath

I was wondering if there is a chance to see if a marriage record exist of Daniel and Margaret, and if Anne has siblings..any information about Parker and Geraghty family , would be great for me

Thank you in advance and have a good evening

Diana

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a January 25 1821 marriage between Daniel Parker and Marcella Geraty at Rathowen. Witnesses were Thomas Parker and Peter Geraty.

Besides Anne there was a July 28 1832 baptismal record for a Catherine Parker at Rathowen with Daniel Parker and Margaret Geraghty as the parents.

As you can see from the parish register index for Rathowenhttps://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0176 , there are gaps for baptismal records from from September to July 1832 and then April 1833 to May 1836. Other children may have been baptized in the gap period.

The 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Westmeath shows a Daniel Parker in Corrydonnellan townland Russagh civil parish. I think this is the correct family because the two baptismal records show a transcription of Garry-Donlon which is very close to Corrydonnellan.

See ninth record Daniel Parker died in 1872 and a Patrick Parker was the informant but no info on his relationship to Daniel.

I did not locate a death record for Margaret.

Patrick Parker was a widower in 1901 in Corrydonnellan. I believe his wife was Marcella. See link

    1901 census  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Westmeath/Rathowen/Cor…

Patrick Parker and Marcella Levy were married in 1876. Patrick was a widower and his father was Daniel which confirms he was a son of Daniel and brother to Anne and Catherine.

I found an 1872 birth record for Patrick's son John and his first wife was Kate Carragy. See fifth record

    1911 census  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Westmeath/Rathowen/Cor…

Patrick Parker died in 1916. Son John informant See third record.

  • A Marcella Geraughty was baptized 11-Dec-1806 in the RC parish of Mullingar in Westmeath. Parents: John, Mary Suderin.—rootsireland.ie If this is your ancestor, she was quite young at the time of marriage.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • Thank you, Roger and Patricia! I think this is wonderful !

I saw the Griffith´s , maps and details..simply amazing! and the description of the Parish and place in the notes, are magnificent

One thing I need to ask you, if you don´t mind: Is Marcella an equivalent of Margaret? I mean, her name in that marriage record, and later the baptisms..we are talking about the same person, I guess? Just to clarify myt mind

I can´t thank you enough about the info you found for me

  • Diane:

I would believe that Marcella is a variant of Margaret.

  • Hello again, hope you are all doing great:

I'm still searching info about my Parker line, and recently I've found a couple of records, possibly a sibling of my great great granmother , could you please take a look and let me know what your thoughts are?

Thomas Parker, married 6 of November of 1869, in Rathowen, Russagh, to Margaret Duck

the groom is about 31 years old, and his father is Daniel Parker, from the same parish, as a witness.

I know that the parish didn`t cover those years of baptisms, but something is telling me that Thomas is the brother of Ann ( my great great granmother)

Even the witness of the marriage of Daniel Parker to Marcella/Margaret Geraghty in 1821, is Thomas Parker, maybe Daniel`s father and the granfather of the Thomas I've just found...

Looking forward to read your response, sending a big thanks in advance from Buenos Aires

  • In the Irish Flax Growers List, 1796, I did not see the name Parker, but did find the following:

    Gerahty Bryan Noughaval Westmeath
    Gerahty Mary Conry Westmeath
    Geraughty Michael Ballymore Westmeath

  • Thank you, because there are few Parker surname in the area, I was thinking that is possible that the Thomas Parker I was talking about could be brother of my great great grandmother...
