I am interested if there is any information on a Maurice Hyland (ag lab) & Mary Knockden from Mill Town, Co Westmeath.
I can't find any info on any Knockdens - what would other spellings of this name be? (I have seen of a Knockdrin Castle in the area - on wiki it mentioned the property was named after a hill on the estate!!)
There is a will (1897) on irishgenealogy that has a Maurice Hyland, late of Bullock Pasture Drummond Rochfort Bridge, farmer who was lived 1813 - 1897 - other person mentioned in the will was a John Hyland also of Bullock Pasture.
There is a census 1901 for a Hyland family in Drumman 2, Milltown - with a John 38, Kate 39, Maurice 32. and again in 1911 same family (plus a James now 46, and 2 young children). Would this be the same family?
I have seen on Familysearch 3 Maurice Hyland registered in Mullingar one born 1813, 1865, 1868 -
Maurice & Mary Hyland had at least 2 sons, - second son Maurice Hyland b. 1833 who married in Bridgetown, Glasgow, 17 Jul 1869 to Elizabeth Courtney. The son and wife emigrated to New Zealand in 1875.

I looked at the townlands in Co. Westmeath which started with KNOCK. I also thought that Knockdrin was a possiblity but all the Knockdrins in Co. Westmeath were nowhere near Milltown. (See below).
The Hyland family you located in the two censuses may be the correct family. I looked for civil birth index records for a Maurice Hyland in the Mullingar. I located one in 1866 but could not find one in 1865 or 1868. (The 1866 index record is below the townland info). If you want to get a copy of this record from the General Register Office, let me know and i will forward instructions. I also located the 1897 death index record for Maurice Hyland mentioned in your note. You can also get this record from the GRO and it will tell you where he lived and the name of the informant. Hi, thanks so much for all your efforts.
Still trying to figure it out - I have just been on Irishgenealogy and came across a Mary Knockanedin who was a sponsor 1 (Mary Linihan - sp 2) for a baptism of a Patrick Hartnane of Knockanedin on 2 Jan 1831. Area - Kerry (RC) , Parish/Church/Congretation - Milltown. I have just checked - there is a Milltown in Co. Kerry. - if only it was Westmeath.
But I have also just found a baptism on ancestry for a ? Hyland Parish - Rochfortbridge, County: Meath 6 Jul 1828 - fathers name Maurice Hyland and mothers name - Naghten. (which sounds like a possiblity for Knockden). So that is the right era, right area, right fathers name - I will investigate further. There are many Naghten's in Westmeath on Familysearch but mostly from St Peter, Athlonen.

I have just checked the marriage cert of Maurice Highland and Elizabeth Courtney 17 July 1869. It had Maurice Highland senior as desceased. The above Maurice Hyland you have mentioned died 8th Aug 1897 Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland.
