My Grandfather, MATTHEW/MATHEW JOSEPH LYNCH was born on 19 August 1857 at Milltown or Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath. His parents were MATTHEW/MATHEW LYNCH & MARIA REILLY. My grandfather was youngest of ten children & he migrated to Melbourne Victoria Australia on the "Angerona" 26 September 1877. Could anyone assist with any information about my grandfather's parents MATTHEW/MATHEW LYNCH & MARIA REILLY please?EVEL2

The 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows a Matthew Lynch in Milltown in Faughalstown civil parish which is adjacent to Rathgarve civil parish home of Castlepollared town. This may be your ancestor.
RC records for Castlepollard and Turbotstown ( RC parish for Faugahlstown) go back to the late 1700s bur for some reason neither parish records are available on Roots Ireland. You may have to contact the churches to see if you can find a marriage record for Matthew and Maria.
