I am interested in information on John Rourke's (~1850 - 1930) wife Anastasia or possibly Mary Doran.  John's household had four children listed and birth registrations indicate at least three were born to Anastasia.  GRO records for two bracketing a third listed her as mother.  A bit of confusion was caused by the U.S. death certificate of the the bracketed child listing her given name as Mary.

The family business a mill and they resided in Tullicanna, Wexford.  Anastasia apprently passed away between the 1901 and 1911 census.  There are some possibilities on the death registrations but the ones I have reviewed for others leads me not to expect it to name spouse, parents or children and none of the death registration appear to have been where expected but Enniscorty may be right..

    I found the 1881 civil marriage index record which you may already have. I looked at all the death index records for Anastasia Rourkes and agree that the best fit is the 1904 record in Enniscorthy. There are a number of possibilities under Mary Rourke. One other comment-- Sometimes in the census records a person will be shown as married when in fact they were a widow or widower.

    I had only very recently discovered an interest in "Anastasia" or "Anty" Doran Rourke and had in fact not found the marriage index you provided a reference for yet.  I had been scouring the indexes for Mary Doran. This is a wonderful development.  Thank you for what I expect will be link to another generation back in my family tree.

  • Hello, I have only a bit of information on the Doran family tied into my tree from a period much earlier than I expect you are interested in.  They were residents of Newcastle in the late 1800's.  People interested in the Doran family with a link in common have been in contact and have shared some genealogical information but nothing that would help locate someone living now or in the recent past.  I wish you good fortune in locating your father.
