I am looking for info on Patrick and Margaret Colfer.  They are my third great grandparents.  They had a son, James, my second great grandfather around 1813.  He married Anna Larkin.  I believe they emmigrated around 1870 with their children to the USA.  The children as I know them are, Simon(Simeon), Patrick, Matt, John, Edward(Edwin), William, Mary Ann, Ellen, Jim, Thomas and Ann.  Thomas is my great grandfather.  I believe he was born November 10,1869.  I would like verification of this info and any other info on extended family that stayed in Ireland.

  • Ellen:

The 1853 griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Bannow civil parish has a number of Colfers including a James Colfer who lived in Vernegly townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/wexford/bannow.htm

I looked at www.familysearch.org for Colfer children born to James Colfer and Anne Larkin. I only found a record for Ellen (2/29/1864) and Anastacia (2/5/1868). I was not able to locate a birth or baptimsal record for Thomas. I did locate a Patrick Colfer (68) in the 1901 census for Vernegly.

  • I have Ellen's birthdate as March 1, 1865.  Not sure where I got that.  I also found Ann listed as Anastacia and that is the same birthdate.

It could be my James Colfer.  I do not know how to verify as I have no other brothers, sisters, parent info.

    Thank You
