Hi there. My mother has been researching her grandmother Bridget Doyle and has records of her birth and baptism from Enniscorthy in 1882. Her parents were James Doyle and Mary Doyle (nee Hickey). She married in Derby in 1905 (Bridget Adams) and had 3 children, shortly after which she left her family and disappeared in 1908. We believe she returned to Ireland but have no confirmation this is true. Next records we can find is from her second marriage in Canada in 1920. We have searched uk records for hospitals, prisons, sanitariums etc but can’t find any record of her between this period. She also used Christian names Cassie, Margaret and Christina. Any suggestions or knowledge would be great as my mother has spent hours at the local library over the past year looking through many records to try and find out what happened to her. Many thanks

Dear Stacey:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board. You state that your grandmother left Derby in 1908 and you believe that she returned to Ireland? If so, have you checked the 1911 Census of Ireland? It is free and available on the National Archives of Ireland website. For ease of reference, here is the link: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/.
The very best of luck with your research and please let us know if you have further questions.
Kind regards,
Jane
