Seeking any information on Kathleen Kearns ( my grandmother) born in Ferns about 1897/1900 or any of her siblings. Understand she was orphaned and went to Dublin to live with a relative before coming to England to find work at about 14/15 years of age.
I have a copy of a certificate of Baptism for her sister Anne in 1877 at St Adian's Ferns. Could Anne have been Kathleen's (Kate) mother? Anne's parents are listed as Micheal Kearns and Catherine Brennan. Perhaps Kate was raised by her grandparents. Any help much appreciated.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking for Kathleen?s birth record? This should have her parents listed.
Most Catholic records are held locally so it may be an idea to write to the local parish priest for assistance. You can see what records are available in Ferns here:
Civil registration became mandatory in Ireland in 1864 so there will be a record of Kathleen?s birth in these records. These records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records online, however the indexes do not give very much information.

For more information on these records and how to obtain them, go to http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Irish-civil-registration.html
Have you tried looking for Kathleen in the 1901/1911 census records? If you can find her in these it will give information on who was in the household at the same time. You can search these here:

Some other websites which may be useful to you are:

I hope some of this information is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
