I am so thrilled to find information about my husbands Irish ancestors!  Thanks to you I now know which part of Ireland he is from.  The difficult part of find anything about the Culletons is that they had no imagination for first names!  Too many Johns and Patricks throughout the line has sent me down several wrong paths.  But now I have Joanna Murphy and Patrick Culleton!  I have a good deal of info from here in Canada but for anyone having trouble with the records, just spell the last name as Cullerton.  Ths sent me to "Geneology of families of Valcartier Quebec".  It was a huge help. Also www.automatedgeneology.com.  This is where you will find the census for Canada.  When you are looking, you want Quebec, Valcartier area, Pontiac and Allumette.

I just read the book "Cashelmara" which takes place in Ireland in the mid 1800's and it described alot of the land and the way the people lived there.  Just greatful that Joanna and Patrick left before the great famine.

If anyone has stories or more info I would love to hear it. What brought them to Canada, what kind of life did they have in Ireland, any other relatives .....

Thanks again for solving the mystery!!
