My Andrew Scallion b 1790 Co of Wexford to Joseph Scallion and Margaret Doyle arrived 1821 in Nova Scotia the year before William Johnson purchased more land shared it with Andrew indicating a plan? .
I did however, find one Joseph Scallion and Margaret Doyle married at the "cross of ballysheen" in the Parish of Carne witnessess John and James Scallian 27 Fb 1783. I also found their children
- Joseph bapt 19th mar 1784 sp Thomas Codd and Catherine Boile at Ballyshien alas ballyphane alias Ballyshane
- Margaret 29th July 1787 sp Patrick petite and Mary Doyle Butlerstown Parish of St. Ibers
- William (SAME YEAR AS MY ANDREW ALTHOUGH I NEVER FOUND HIS BIRTH DATE) 5-10th aril 1790 sp Ann Whitty and Mathew Byrne born and bapt at Butlerstown in Parish of Carne
- Allice 17th Oct 1794 sp Geo Wale and Anastace Boile Butlerstown in parish of ibers
- Elizabeth 4th Nov 1797 sp William Diff or Duff and Mary Murphy at Butlerstown.
I am working on a spreadsheet matching up crossover names and parishes for Halifax nova Scotia and co of Wexford as I have found so many! I have a lot of Wexford records from researcher in dublin and ns and all these names and locations seem to be under this kilscoran parish. If someone could guide me to where I could access the un transcribed or even the transcribed records when I get there in august and who to contact I would be grateful. Henry healey said you do not have a volunteer in Wexford to help me but there is a genealogist I will post my spreadsheet here as I think I am on to something and can match up a lot of NS descendants with their Wexford ancestors but I really require some help thanks so much
Marianne Young archivist wexford union heritage office told me that butlerstown now comes under parish of Kilscoran but that the records only start as of 19th century and that all the above churches have records yet to be transcribed? Is there someone in your parish I could contact to get access to these records? Thanks
Note: I have just attached the initial data on my NS/WEXFORD surnames/parishes crossover spreadsheet as too many to ignore and may be able to connect many wexford descendants in nova Scotia to their irish roots for the first time and would so appreciate any and all assistance. I will upload the full spreadsheet when it is complete. Very exciting I am coming in septand hope to have some places to visit

Thank you Sean! I cannot find my physical spreadsheet (so just downloaded the one I uploaded here which is only a fraction of what I discovered when I was in the Wexford Library including Cantwell) of my Scallion Nova Scotia names and Ireland Scallion names that still do not link up of course cause i cannot find link to an andrew...still thinking he may have been William from Ballysheen. Anyway I am including these names and dates, when I can gear up to go back into this rabbit hole, in case I missed these Scallions. Thank you so much!

Hi. I'm a descendant of Andrew Scallion and live a few miles from the graveyard he is buried in, in Herring Cove, outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. I would like to find out more information about his family in Ireland, such as th snakes of any siblings who remained in Ireland.
I am traveling to Ireland this summer and would love to visit the town he came from and find out more about this family. Does anyone have more information. Thanks.

Hi 'Cous'! Here is link to the article I posted on my page on TheWildGeese.Irish site detailing my findings and experience in Carne at 'The Cross of Ballysheen' which I totally believe was where Andrew came from and that his parents Joseph Scallian and Margaret Doyle never left. I also believed that Andrew was actually WILLIAM Andrew and is the William born 1790 to Margaret Doyle and Joseph Scallian if found in BALLYSHEEN Carn. You will see in the comments another of our cousins verified that she remembers being told that Andrew Sr was William Andrew Scallian/Scallion/Scallan. Scallan is one of the most prominent surnames in all of Wexford and the only concentration of Scallan/Scallian in all of Ireland. I did however find an old book in the Wexford archives (exciting days I had there sitting beside Irish genealogists) stating that O'Scallians came from Northern Ireland originally. I put as much info on my research into my Andrew Scallian tree on Ancestry.com which is public.
I have also done extensive research into Elizabeth Edwards and filled in a lot of gaps missing from other's trees, currently I have a researcher in Haliffax area working on her mother Catherine Brown's origins as I am trying to get past that brick wall in my MtDNA and so far have found no proof that Edwards/Brown family lived in Lawrencetown. Also you will note in the article that our 'cousin' Richard Johnson had a DNA test analyzed by Irish Origenes and found his closest relatives were Scallans prooving my other long held beliefe that Andrew Scallian and Willliam Johnson of Bear Cove were related. Many Johnsons died in wexford Carne area amonst the Scallian/Scallans but could not find evidence perhaps you can unearth some. ? Have a wonderful time I know you will.

PS: I stayed at a wonderful family owned B&B in Wexford that backs onto the original town wall called Abbey House as it is just doors from the old Abbey and an easy walk to downtown. I was alone on my journey through the UK and Georgina and Bernard's morning welcome to my big Irish breakfast and everytime I walked in the door was so comforting, although I found that everywhere in Ireland!
