Hello, I am in search of information about Broadway Ireland, my grandfather is from this town, and has told us of many stories. I could not find a groupd to join that was closer, maybe you could help with that also. My families name is Broadway we were told all our ancestors come from this town near the water. Any help would be appreciated.

  • The village of Broadway is in St. Iberius civil parish, just west of Ladysisland civil parish. Both the village and civil parish are mentioned in Lewis Topographical Dictionary of 1837 see : Broadway (village) and Iberius St.  (civil parish)

Broadway village is shown on the 1st edition OSI maps, also dating fom about 1837 - see here and is located in Grange townland.

I dont see anyone with the surname Broadway or similar in Grange townland at the time of Griffith's (1853). The 1901 and 1911 census returns show less than 20 people with the surname between them, about half born Co. Wexford . Do you have any first names and dates for your Co. Wexford Broadways ?

  • I believe I miss spoke, my grandfather was here in the states. His forefathers were from Ireland, now to my understanding there were two Broadway house holds in the mid-1830's. George Brodway, and George Emmitt Broadway are my families names. My grandfather stated that there was also a Ann Broadway. My grandfather rest his soul was a farmer, and so was the other men that I know of, but he said a while back our family was one of the most well off in Ireland, I don't know if this is true...we will see. Hope this helps.
