I'm trying to create a family tree for my children and grandchildren. My mother's maiden name was Burke and I'm trying to get information on her parents Michael and Mary Ellen (Walsh). Date of their marriage, etc. I know Mary Ellens parents were William and Margaret Walsh but have been unable to get information about Michaels parents.
Also
My father is Patrick Somers. Any information about his parents, James and Anastasia would also be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Ann

I located this civil marriage index record from 1913 in the Wexford registration district. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living when married. https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
Do you have the maiden name for Anastasia Somers?

Heavens, you were so fast, thank you. I think Anastasia might have been a Doyle. But it's a mighty big might. My Uncle (Aiden Somers) still lives in the Island but we've pretty much lost touch, he might know. When I'm over next year I'll look hime up and see what information I can prise out of him. Regards and thank you again

Hi Roger. Could very well be. My paternal grandmother was named Anastasia and I believe she was a Doyle. Odd though, my maternal great grandmother was a Margaret Walsh married to William and lived in Kesha (Kisha). I also have a 1st cousin called Mary Cousins - sister of John and Jimmy (dec'd) daughter of Eileen and Jimmy (Snr)
Question Does Registration year/Registration quarter mean the marriage took place between those dates - eg Maried between April and June1910?

Ann:
Generally, the event took place in the quarter of registration. However, there were situations where an event occurred in the last month of a quarter but the family did not register until the first month of the next quarter. For example, child born March 20th but the family did not register until sometime in April. The record would show up in the second quarter.
