Looking for information on the family of Maurice (Morris) CONOLLY (Conley, Connolly, Connelly) born between about 1837 and 1841 near Enniscorthy, County Wexford. His parents were Lyons Conolly and Mary FARRELL. I don't know any of his siblings. He married Elizabeth (Betty) KELLY on19 Sept 1863 in Marshalstown, Ferns, Co. Wexford. She was a daughter of James Kelly and Ellen MURPHY. They emigrated to The United States between 1867-1870 with their first two sons Laurence and James and settled in Bennington, Vermont. They had eight more children there. Elizabeth died in 1891 and the following year he remarrid to Ellen Graves and had three more children. Morris died 30 June 1905 in Bennington, Vermont. He is supposed to be buried in the Catholic cemetery there, but I have never found a gravestone. If anyone knows anything about these families I would love to hear from you.

Hi Lynne- My Murphys are from that area of Wexford. I don’t have any Ellen Murphys until the 1880’s, but I do have a 4th great uncle Patrick Pendergast (my Murphys married into that family) marrying a Margaret Kelly in Enniscorthy in 1827. Wonder if it’s the same Kelly line as well? Do you have any other Murphys that you have found to see if I can connect a specific person?

Hi Kim,
Thank you so much for your reply. I do have the marriage record for Ellen Murphy and James Kelly which took place in Killegney, Ferns, Wexford on 28 Feb 1840. The attendants were John Brown & Ally Martin. Their daughter Betty was baptised there on 17 June 1842 with Dany Kehoe and Sally Latham as godparents. I have found the baptism of one sibling so far, James Kelly, born 3 Feb 1841, also in Killegney with godparents Joseph Franks & Ellen Codd. Ellen (Murphy) Kelly was still alive in 1867, as she was present at the birth of her grandson James Conolly in 1867 in Tomadilly, Marshalstown, Ferns. That is about all I know at this point on the Murphys.
