I am the Great Grandson of Thomas Corrigan, born June 1865 in Ballyoughter, Ferns Diocese. His parents were John Corrigan and Margaret Morris. Thomas was the oldest of 9 children. He emigrated to U.S. in 1881 and settled in the Winetka Glencoe area. He was a stableboy and later became a Dairy Farmer.
My name is John Michael Corrigan, Oldest of 7 children. We live in the Chicago area. I will be in Ireland the last part of September and was hoping for any direction to ancestors' and history.

Mike:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
RC parish registers are now online at registers.nlie.ie I looked up the register for Balloughter to see if I could locate the townland that your Corrigans lived. Here is the actual page http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634016#page/164/mode/1up
The family lived in Clonmore townland. You will note that the surname spelling for the father appears to be Cordon rather than Corrigan. Can't explain the apparent difference. Here is the link to the complete register for Ballyoughter. You should be able to find other baptismal records and the marriage record.

Now there are two Clonmore townlands which are in civil parishes which correspond to the RC parish of Ballyoughter. One is Toome and the other is Liskinfere. I think Liskinfere is the correct parish because I located the family in the 1901 and 1911 census records. Margaret died between 1901 and 1911.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Mike:
Looks like Margaret died in 1907. John likely died in 1921. See links.

Thanks for the information, Roger.
I am mystified as to why the name change from Cordon to Corrigan. The marriage record show Coredon or Corodon. I don't get it or what it means. Margaret Morris is spelled correctly throughout.
Anyway, thanks much for the help.

Hi Mike
A very late reply to your request above.
You may be interested in searching for 'Corrigan' on the searchable National School database on the Ballyoughter website at https://ballyoughter.ie/national-school/pupil-records-1872-1922/
