Hello, I am decended from the Lacy & Stafford family from Stapletown (Greaves) Rathaspick, Wexford.

1) My Great Great grandfather was Thomas Lacy/Leacy born 1821 died 1906 in Wexford his wife Elizabeth born 1821 died 1871. The headstone which Thomas erected in is in St. Catherine's Church yard, Murrintown, Co. His son Thomas Lacey died Feb 2, 1932 aged 71 yrs and Elizabeth Lacey died Nov 8, 1946 age 86 yrs.

I do have info on this family but only a little from the 1901 & 1911 Irish  Censuses. And a few pictures that my Aunt Mary has taken in Ireland when visiting cousin Betty (Lacey)  McCarthy of Clonmel.

Simon Lacy and his wife Mary Wade immigrated to the US in 1912, settling in Laconia, Belknap County, NH.

James Lacy immigrated in about 1923 and moved to Laconia, Belknap county, NH with his brother.

I would like to know more about my grandfathers siblings. I know some are buried at St. Catherine's Church in Murrintown, cause I have pictures my aunt took of the gravestones when she was there visiting.

I would also like to know more about the plaque that is in St. Catherine's that is in memory of Elizabeth Stafford.

Thank You

  • Hi Rosanna,

Thank you very much for your message and for sharing this information on the Ireland Reaching Out message board. No doubt it will prove very useful to other researching parts of the same family.

I hope that someone with more information on the Lacey?s makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
