Looking into family of Patrick Walsh, Poulterer, of John St. Wexford Town, born 1845, Barntown, to John Walsh, farmer, and Patrick's wife, Mary Furlong, nee Rossiter, born 1842 to William Rossiter, Wexford Town. She was a widow when she married Patrick in 1866, I think at the Rowe St Church, and living at Duke St. in the civil parish of St John. Unfortunately, I don't have the Christian names for either Mary nor Patrick's mothers, nor for the Furlong that was her first husband.
Does this family ring any bells?

Mary:
I looked at the 1901 and 1911 censuses and based on what I see, Patrick did not marry a widow in 1904. The 1911 census shows that he and Mary married around 1864-1865 and were still married in 1911. Maybe I have the wrong Patrick Walsh poulterer on Johns St?

Dear Roger,
quite right - brain switched off, they married in 1866, I have their marriage certificate. It was their daughter, Mary-Anne who married in 1904. Patrick & Mary's marriage was in " the Catholic Chapel in Wexford " which I am presuming was Rowe Street, since that would have been closest to where they lived.
So you did find the correct Patrick Walsh. I should very much like to discover his ( and Mary's ) mothers' names and siblings etc. etc. We have all the information on Patrick and Mary's children and their families.
Best wishes,
Bridie

.It is the correct Patrick Walsh. I was just concerned because you mentioned he married in 1904.
I think it will be very difficult to find out the names of the mothers of Patrick and Mary because of the lack of church record availability for Wexford town.

Hello,
have found that Mary Rossiter, who married Patrick Walsh in Wexford Town in 1866, was the daughter of William Rossiter of Duke Street, Wexford Town, and Bridget Breen, and was born in 1842. Bridget Breen appears in Griffiths, with a stall on Custom House Quay, parish of St Iberius, and it looks like William Rossiter was dead by then. Along from Bridget's stall was one belonging to a Thomas Furlong, possibly the father of John Furlong, Mary Rossiter's first husband who died very young. There was also an entry in Griffiths in Duke Street, for a Michael Breen, who may have been the father or brother of Bridget Breen.
