I am descended from Patrick McGuire (b. ca. 1799) and Mary Fox (b. ca. 1804) from Shillelagh. I have come across a (DNA) John Hinch connection , as a third to fifth cousin, through the McGuires. I'm just now sure exactly how. These Hinch ancestors appear on the Coollattin Emigration list for 1847, from Killibeg, Aghowle: John, aged 30, and sisters Biddy, Catherine, Mary and Betty who died on the way over. Their parents are Richard Hinch and Mary Doyle, who married in Clonmore in 1814. Once in Tamworth, Ontario, John married Elizabeth Flynn (b. 1837, Clonmore records), parents James Flynn (b. 1786, Boley-1850 Clonmore) and Ann Murphy (b. 1799 Boley). James and Ann died in Ireland. I haven't found Elizabeth Flynn and her siblings John (b. 1821), Michael, Mary, James and William in the Emigration lists, but it appears they were in Ontario by 1850.
A cousin believes the parents of James Flynn are George Flynn (b. 1750) and Mary Jags (b. 1761); and Ann Murphy's father is John Murphy -- but I don't have proof in hand yet.
I'm not sure which of these names (Hinch, Doyle, Flynn, Murphy, Jags) are connected to the McGuires, but at least it narrows things down a bit -- although not much by the numbers of Doyles and Murphys!!Do you have any suggestions?

hello,
I have done research concerning the Hopkins and Edges of Co. Wicklow. This may or may not be a match, but a number of families from the SW part of Wicklow (close to Aghowle) emigrated to Grey Co. Ontario.
In that area you will find John Hincks, age 30 on the 1861 Census. At some point (circa 1850-55) he married Sarah Jane Edge, daughter of John Hamilton Edge who likely emigrated in 1846. This may be a differnt John Hinch but this is worth following up.
My email is mrrosshopkins@hotmail and I would ask that you copy any reply to it

Hi Ross: And thanks for your suggestion. I am fairly certainly my Hinch family settled in Tamworth, Lennox and Addington County, where they raised a large and fairly mobile family. But I will follow up with your John Hinke just in case -- you never know!
