Avoca transportation?

My sister and I have rented a cottage in Avoca in June to fulfill our life long dream of returning to the land where our ancestors emigrated from.  One detail I did not account for was transportation around the area.  I  don't want to rent a car, as the driving conditions are so different from what I am used to, and I'm a nervous nelly driver at the best of times!   Any ideas?  I wonder if there might be someone local I could hire to occasionally give us a life to the grocery store, pub, etc?   Is there anywhere to rent a bicycle?   I am so looking forward to seeing your area and meeting new friends.
