l have hit a road block for birth, marriage for my great great grandfather Frederick Sandford born about 1796~99. Also birth records for his 5 children prior to emigration in 1851. Australian records have been sourced but apart from land deeds in the 1840s I can find nothing from Ireland. Known to come from County Wicklow, hired land at Swords in the 1840s but nothing more. Would love anything of his Irish history. Thank you.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland has nine possible baptismal records for children of Fredrick Sandford and Ann Armstrong in the Swords Church of Ireland parish. The nine children were Samuel James 1820 (see below) Sarah 1823 Fredrick 1825 Anne 1827 Elizabeth 1830 William 1832 Eleanor 1835 Peter 1838 Robert 1841. I know you said five children in your message but nine records came up. I did not open all of the records. Also found an 1797 baptismal record for Frederick Charles Sandford in Swords (see below). Did not find a marriage record.

  • thank you so much for your reply. It has given me something to work on and a name of a possible wife or mother. So good of you to answer so quickly and now l have a lead which may help. When Frederick emigrated he came without a wife and he came with son Richard, daughter Eleanor, Elizabeth came later with her husband George Rainsford and their daughter. On the ship with Frederick were also his sons Robert and Peter so names are there, dates are about right so looks like more investigation is needed but now I have a starting point. Thanks and I shall look into another subscription into Roots Ireland.
