Hello. I am trying to see if I can find out any information on the Jordan family from Ballyisland. Shillelagh / Clonega area. One of my ancestors James Jordan, born around 1850, married Catherine ( Kate) Walsh in Clonegal 1878 approx. I think that Catherines father may have been John Walsh and they may have been farmers. I have no information whatever on this Walsh family connection, other than that Catherine was my great great grandmother. To the best of my knowledge James parents were Michael Jordan and Catherine, born Fox. I think Catherine was a daughter of Dennis Fox and Betty, born Quail. Michael Jordan, Ballyisland's father may also have been Michael Jordan. If I could get any more information it would be appreciated. John Byrne

Hi patrickjoseph35.
There are still Jordans in the Coolboy area but I am not sure if they are connected to my ancestors. Those names, Thomas, Hugh don't recur in our branch which was always an indicator of how families were related. They kept the same names going. Since the middle 1800s and to this day practically the only names in my tree are Michael, Patrick and James. It is possible that there is a connection further back but, I suppose that that is what I am trying to establish. Thanks again. Jaybee.
