I'm looking for the parish from which my G-grandfather came from. All I know is his name in America and family lore (from my grandfather) states he came from Co. Wicklow. I believe he was born in February 1864. He was a miner in the states, of copper. He seems to have arrived in America at the age of 17 in 1881, married, had 3 sons and a daughter (who dies in infancy). He disappeared so we have no record of his death and I know very little else about him. If anyone could quide me to what part of the county he might be from with his mining background I would be ever so grateful.

Hi
Thank you for your message.
Do you know much about his emigration? The dates, the reason why he left, who he may have travelled with?..etc..Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin.

Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/
