Hi,

My Ancestor is Mary Fitzgerald who arrived in New South Wales, Australia, on board the Irish Famine Ship ‘Maria’ in 1850.

The information I have about her is:

Name: Mary Fitzgerald

Mary was born about 1832 in Stonehall Limerick. I have been told that Stonehall is a town land in the civil parish of Kilcornan.

The shipping record:

  • From the poor law union of ‘Rathkeale’
  • House servant
  • Cannot read or write
  • No relatives in colony
  • Parents: John & Johanna (both dead)

I have searched the http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/  with no luck on finding either a birth or marriage for John & Johanna.

Mary’s death certificate had her mother’s name listed as: Hanorah O’Shaunnessey.

I am leaning towards Mary’s mother’s name being Hanorah, as Mary named one of her daughters Hanorah.

I would like to be able to find Mary’s birth and when her parents were married.

Thank you

Sandra
