Many of our family ancestors were victims of The Great Hunger,1845-51.

They are buried in unmarked graves all over Ireland. We do not know if these graves have even been consecrated. National and local government officials and organizations should show respect and honor our family ancestors who died of starvation and related diseases while vast amounts of food was being shipped out of Ireland. There should be Commemoration events at all Hunger Grave locations annually.

The victims are the families of the diaspora also, and should have been given the respect they deserved over the years.

We request that any tours of visitors include these gravesites where their ancestors are buried.

Bill Fahey, Pres.
American Comm. for the Commemoration of Irish Hunger Victims, 1845-51

  • Hi Bill,

Do you have any information about what graveyards your ancestors are buried in? If so, we could try to find out for you if that ground has been consecrated or not.

    Thanks for the query,
    Ireland XO HQ.
