Hello,
I am seeking relations of John Spellman who travelled to America onboard the 'Oceanic' sailing from Queenstown in Co Cork, Ireland arriving at Ellis Island on April 2nd 1903. The records show him as single and coming from Clonfert. He was travelling to his sister Kate Larkin formerly Spellman from Clonfert. John's sister Kate was married to a Larkin who also a native of Clonfert. They were neighbours. Kate lived at 3346 Waldron St, Waterbury, Conn. According to the Ellis Island ships manifesto John was 36 years of age on arrival, had $50 in his possession and had been to visit his sister previously in 1893. My mother is Catherine (Kitty) Spellman from Clonfert of the same family. Her father was named John Spellman. The John that I am looking for was his uncle. He had a number of other siblings in Ireland. His father was also named John. The family originated from Clonfert Callows.

Christie,
The only record that shows up right now is the Ships Manifest. The address for Kate may be an Employer. It appears that there is no such address today in Waterbury.
I did find an address in Winstead, Litchfield CT but that is in another county. Waterbury is in Fairfield County.
It is not uncommon to have erroneous addresses. I had the same problem finding my Grandmother because my Aunt gave her employers address. I show Kate being born in 1865 and John as 1867. Would we be able to get Kate's husbands vital statistics?
The other problem is that during this time period many of the Immigrants’ were a very mobile society.
I did find a john Spellman living in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey in the 1910 Federal Census and the birth year was right
