My grandparents lived in Barnesmore Gap area.  My grandmother Kate Donegan emigrated to New York/New Jersey area after her mother Alice Bradley died.  Alice was born 1859 and died 1 Feb 1888.  Her father was Michael Donegan who is said to have been from Antrim. He was born about 1843.  Alice Bradley's grave is in St  Agatha's churchyard.  The stone was "Michael Donegan died in 1920."

  • Hi there,

Could you please post your message on the Donegal (parish) parish profile page here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/donegal-donegal and also on the County Antrim page here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/county-antrim

You could try looking for these people in the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com

You mention this: Alice Bradley's grave is in St Agatha's churchyard. The stone was "Michael Donegan died in 1920."  Where is St. Agatha's churchyard? Where was Michael buried? Is this in Donegal or the US?

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

    Sinead Cooney

  • I have already posted it to the Antrim and Donegal (Donegal) sites.  Since Alice Bradley died in Donegal Ireland, she is buried in St Agatha's graveyard in Donegal.

<The stone say "Michael Donegan died in 1920."  .... Where was Michael buried? Is this in Donegal or the US?>  The notation is on Alice's headstone.  Part of my problem is that I don't know if Michael is buried there or is this Michael Donegan or his son who is also Michael  Donegan.
