My greatgrandfather is Michael Donegan born about 1843 in Antrim. He married Alice Bradley from the Barnesmore Gap area in Donegal. They had 3 or maybe 4 children - Kate, Patrick, Hugh(died as an infant) and Michael. When Alice died, Kate emigrated to the US - New York area. He is said to have returned to Antrim to find work. He is in the census with his son Michael in Londonderry. On Alice's gravestone there is a notation - "Michael Donegan died in 1920" It does not say thatt Michael is buried there - or which Michael - father or son.
I have no idea where in county Antrim Michael and his family came from.

Hi,
A couple of sites might be able tp help you track down this family.
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseaction=Go.&UserID=
Shows between 1847-64 6 households in Donegal and 15 in Antrim by that spelling of Donegan. They show quite a few variants on the spelling as well.
There is much data to be gleaned that is free from the above site, (for instance under placenames search), a positional map is shown with a listing of Townlands or streets that might aid your search.
Another resource is:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=nameSearch
This might also help to locate the family.
Another help is found at the explanations of what records are kept where found at:
ww.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com

Hope this helps, Jeanette
