My great aunt, Letitia Johnston of Kinlough, Leitrim married Thomas Stewart Vaughn of Dunmuckrum, Donegal on 23 Jul 1912. His parents were John Vaughan and Elizabeth Black. His siblings were John Henry, Elizabeth Jane (m. Thomas Madill, RIC of Monaghan), Margaret Rebecca (m. Thomas Jeffrey of Derry), and Annabella Jane (m. John Black).
Looking for relations. All the best, Deb.

Hi Deb,
I would suggest you check for John Vaughan and Elizabeth Black in the Roman Catholic church records for Innismacsaint (Clogher). These date from 1848 for baptismal records and 1847 for marriage records. These are available at the National Library of Ireland, Pos. 5569, or the Church of Latter Day Saints, ref. no. 1279237, items 4-7 and others.
You could check the civil records at the General Register Office (GRO). These date from 1864. http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You could look at the 1901 and 1911 census records here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
You could also try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffth's Valuation (1848-64). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at.
Hopefully someone in the local community will know of the living relatives of Vaughan family and help you further.
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney

There are several Vaughan family members still living in and around Dunmuckrum. They are descended from John Vaughan and Mary Stewart, Protestants who are buried in the graveyard at the local church in Ballyshannon. If memory serves me well, Letitia Vaughaghan is buried there as well. The family historian for that branch is Tom White.
I am descended from John's older brother James. I have most of the geneology for both lines if you need them.
