As previously stated I have had great difficulty locating origin of Kane family we believe to be from the Hospital area. My Great grandfather Patrick Kane (born abt 1859) his brother Michael (born abt 1862 ) and his sister Mary (born abt 1865) came to US in 1880s. Their parents were James Kane and Mary "Kearney" Kane.
Patrick married Bridget Carroll (born 1861 in Hospital to David and mary "Morgan" Carroll) in the US. We have had success with the Carroll family from Hospital but not much withtehkane family.
I am in possession of a letter from a Mary Higgins dated March 4th 1895 postmarked from Hospital addressed to Mrs Kane (Bridget) in which she asked to be remembered to her COUSIN Patrick. This leads us to beleive that patrick was from the area and my provide a link to the Kane and or kearney Families.
Any help in identifying Mrs. Mary Higgins and her parents and place of origin would be a great help!!
Just another item - David Carroll Bridget's father passed away latter that month in March 1895.
Thank you.

Hi there,
You should check the census records for 1901 and 1911 for Mary Higgins, Patrick and Bridget. You can do this here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Try checking for David Carroll in the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffth's Valuation (1848-64). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at.
Also check the newspaper death notices for David. There might be a little more information in it if there was a death notice.
You might find this a useful website to check: http://www.limerickcity.ie/archives/ and http://www.limerickcity.ie/Library/LocalStudies/ObituariesFuneralNoticesfromtheLimerickChroniclenewspaper/
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,
