I am researching the Shortt family from Ireland. Rev Francis Shortt (b 1794 d 1879) was the 7th son of Charles Shortt of Shinrone. I am looking for family members of his family who may be in the Cork area. He was the Rector of Cork Begg from at least 1853 I think until his death. I have very little detail regarding his descendants. Hoping there is more information available regarding Francis. I found a photograph of his Grave in the Church grounds. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
Could you please post your message on the Cork Beg page here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/corkbeg-cork
If you like, you could post that photograph on your message. I also have a link to the photograph here: http://historicgraves.ie/corkbeg/co-cbeg-290/grave
He is also mentioned in this newspaper from 1837: http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Clare/1837/DEC.html

If Francis was Church of Ireland, then there biographical details of Church of Ireland clergy in the Leslie Biographical Index, a far-reaching compendium originated by the Rev. James Leslie and held at the Representative Church Body Library (http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42) in Dublin. Additional information is also available in Leslie's Succession Lists - chronological accounts arranged by diocese and parish. Church of Ireland Directories were also published, intermittenetly but frequently, in the first half of the 19th century, and annually from 1862.
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,
