I am researching the family of Rev Francis Shortt of Corkbegg his wife Martha Alexander and their family. Rev Francis Shortt was born 1794 and died 8 September, 1879. He was the rector of Corkbegg from at least 1853 I think until his death. He was the 7th son of Charles Shortt of Shinrone and Grace Gilbert. Any connections or information I would be most grateful for.

If Francis was Church of Ireland, then there biographical details of Church of Ireland clergy in the Leslie Biographical Index, a far-reaching compendium originated by the Rev. James Leslie and held at the Representative Church Body Library (http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42) in Dublin. Additional information is also available in Leslie's Succession Lists - chronological accounts arranged by diocese and parish. Church of Ireland Directories were also published, intermittenetly but frequently, in the first half of the 19th century, and annually from 1862.
