Hi Marien:
I read your message as I am involved in the Tulla, County Clare web page on the Reaching Out project.
If you can obtain where the ship that your great-great grandfather sailed from, there might be a list of passengers and that would give you a better idea where in County Clare he was from. It would be extremely helpful for your research if you can find the town and/or townland in County Clare.
In addition, you can check with the Clare County Library website through the Griffith's Valuation for his father, William.
Best of luck with your research. If I come across anything re Davorens, I will let you know.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Hi Jane, How about Bridgett Kearse? I posted a question about the Kerses in the Killinaboy parish. But the name is often spelled Kearse also, and I've seen the name Bridgett throughout the family in the USA, Do you know anything about he Kerse/Kearse family in County Clare? My 3rd great grandfather was Robert Kerse/Kearse, born abt. 1832 in County Clare, Ireland. There is a Robert Kerse in a tithe applotment book in Killinaboy parish in 1824, that would have to be my Robert's father. I'd love to find my family. I think robert b. 1832, may have had a mother named Ann, and sibs named James and Timothy, but am not certain. Our Robert was only 18 when he came here, but he married a Margaret? from Ireland soon after arriving, and they had ten children in richmond, Virginia, I'd be one of their many, many great, great, great grandchildren! Robert and James fought in the Civil War here in the States and distinguished themselves! I'd love toknow more! Any help or advice you can give would be appreciated! Helen Holshouser

Hi Helen:
Thanks for your message. I did a quick check for you in the Clare County Library website. There are a number of Kearse families in the 1800/ in the Killinaboy area. This area would fall under the Ballyvaughan parish. I am meeting someone from there tomorrow night who is involved in Ireland Reaching Out in that parish and I will let him know of your enquiry.
In the meantime, you should take a look at the County Library website. Www.clarecountylibrary.ie/genealogy. They have transcribed the Tithe Applotment Books, Griffiths Valuations and you can access both 1901 and 1911 Censuses. You can look by parish or by surname.
Let me know how you get on.
