Hi Michael
Is this a previous message from you? http://genforum.genealogy.com/gilligan/messages/612.html
If your family is from Dangan then there are Gilligans still there (use eircomphonebook.ie to get a contact number)
This is probably them in 1901 : http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Moyne/Polladooey/1397824/
with another relative next door and Daniel's name carried on http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Moyne/Polladooey/1397823/
Hope that helps

Hi Michael
There are Gilligans who are related to me in Tuam parish They are just outside in Kilmore Tuam (google map this )
Margaret Gormally 1867-1956 was my gran Kate Gormally's 1st cousin
Margaret married Michael Gilligan b 1859 in Kilmore and looks like he was son of Thomas and grandson of Michael based on naming conventions of the time
When I did a search for the Griffith's valuation in 1855 it looks like this family is the only one in Tuam parish (askaboutireland.ie) and the family are still there though Margaret's married name was Crisham
Margaret and Michael's daughter is 106 at the end of this month and her brother was Martin b1900 !! Not sure if there is a connection but the possibility is quite good There are 2 more Martins in the family as well but 1 of them is possibly named after his maternal grandfather rather than a Gilligan tradition
I will try and find out info from a cousin on myheritage.com whose mother was a Gilligan and see what information he has
Hope that helps

Thank you Martin; I have done more research on Daniel James Gilligan and found one who lived in the townland of Puleeghter, parish Clonbern ( also called Killkerrin) in 1830 in Galway Ireland. I have come to believe the family in Pooladooey is related, but not the family I am looking for. If you have any information on this Daniel in Clonbern I would be very apprecative of it. Thanks again for the information . Sincerely Michael Gilligan
