Hello:
I am the parish admin for Tulla. There are indeed Torpeys in this parish. As you will see on the Tulla webpage, they are listed in Griffith's Valuation. There were Torpeys in the Affick town land of the parish. The family is still in the parish today. There were variants of the spelling: Tarpy, Torpy, Torpey. If you would like to send your email address to us at tulla@irelandxo.com, we can forward it to the local family here who can contact you.
Thanks for your interest in the XO project.

Thank you for the Tulla area possibility.
We are not sure yet which parish in county Clare these individuals came from yet.
If we can further the research we will be pleased to inform and coordinate with you.

Good Morning from Chicago,
My great aunt, Anne nee Loughnane (1851-1932) married John Torpey (1831-1914) on February 16, 1874. John is from Kilbane, Broadford, County Clare. In the 1901 and 1911 Census they are living in Clogaheen, East Killokennedy, County Clare. Witnesses to their wedding were cousin Johns Moloney and Elle Minogue.
Anne nee Loughnane is from Bauroe, Feakle, County Clare.
If you think John Torpey might be related to your Torpy's, let me know and I willsee if I can find out more info for you. Also,if you would like an excel sheet with this family, send me your e-mail address.
All the best, Paddy Savage

Hi Dotty:
We don't get involved with DNA on this site. There does appear to be a Torpy family DNA project at this link but I know nothing about it: http://www.genealogytoday.com/.../finder.mv?Surname=Torpy
Patrick has given you some advice and it may bethat your Torpy family was from Broadford. There were Torpeys in Tulla as well and if you look at the Clare Library website, you will find that there are several Torpey families listed in Griffith's Valuation (1855). Here is the link as an example: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/griffiths/griffitht2…
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
All the best,
Jane

I live in Wisconsin. I just recently signed up to find out more about my ancestors through myheritage.com. I stumbled upon this post and decided to share what I found, but do find self stuck at Michael and Bridget as well. I haven't read all the previous posts yet and look forward to reading what others have found. I hope the following is helpful. Thank you!
My mother's mother was born
Marcella Grace Torphy 1900 - 1962 born in Ridgeway Wisconsin.
Marcella's father: Michael A Torphy 1855 - 1917 born in Wisconsn, married to Mary Jane McCloskey 1862 - 1942 born in Wisconsin. Her father was James born Antrim County Ireland and mother Ellen born on Utica, New York
Michael's father: Thomas Torphy 1831 - 1868 born Tipperary Ireland, 1st marriage to Ann Veughan 1828 - 1861 born Ireland and second marriage Jane Ellen Mulcahy Torphy 1843 - 1916 born Tipperary County, Ireland
Thomas' father: Michael Torphy 1800 - ? born married to Bridget/Brigida Torphy (Connors) 1802 - ?
There is an article I found online with a mention of Thomas Torphy settling in Iowa County, Wisconsin in 1848 from Tipperary County Ireland. Later followed his brother John and Michael. Link below:

Thomas' Headstone states last name Torphy, but ...
Ann's reads wife of Michael Torpy. So was it changed from Torpy to Torphy when they came to America??
