I have recently received a request from my cousin, Dominican Sister Diana Santleben in regard to a fellow Dominican Sister who came over to Australia from Cabra, Ireland in 1875 by the name of Sister Mary Gabriel (Ellen Hogan) b1843 in Dublin to John and Mary Hogan.
What we are desperately seeking is whether there are any brothers, sisters or descendants of Ellen and whether they may still be alive for contact.
Cousin Diana has been researching the history of Sister Gabriel for some time, as she was the first Dominican Sister to begin an education for the Catholic deaf community in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, Sister Gabriel was deaf herself.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
