My great-grandmother, Catherine McGarrity (sometimes McGeraghty) and her 7 known siblings (Mary, John, Sarah Anne, Patrick, Michael, Margaret and James) were born to Michael McGarrity and Sarah Anne "Sally" Hughes between 1864 and 1879 in the area of Six Mile Cross, Inishative, Omagh (location varies by the DOB of each child).

The family was Roman Catholic. I have the Civil Birth Registration records for the children. I would like to find out what Church they attended and were baptized in as well as the marriage record for Michael McGarrity and Sarah Anne Hughes.

Any suggestions welcome. I've used the rootsireland site, as well as EmeraldAncestors.com and familysearch.org.

Catherine and Margaret both came to the USA. Margaret never married and died in 1932 in New Jersey. Catherine was married twice - first to Thomas Nealis and second to my great-grandfather, William Donnelly. William died in New Jersey, also in 1932. Catherine lived until 1951 and died in New Jersey.

Thanks for any help.

Ann

  • I appreciate the links. I understand that those parish records have been digitized and are also available at the COFLA. http://www.ofiaich.ie/genealogy/research-services.asp

I've contacted them a couple of times, but I have not received a reply.

And, on the list of parish registers for Termonmaguirc at the NLI, the dates available for baptisms is truncated on the PDF. I've contacted them, asking for verification of what years are available, but no reply from there, either. The marriages appear to end too early - last date 1857.

    Always open to other ideas.

    Thanks,

    Ann
