Mary Stapleton born in January 1823 in Roscommon, Roscommon, Ireland. Her parents are supposed to have been Thomas Stapleton and Mary Gannon. She came to the US in 1852. At 29 i would bet she was married before she came. I would be surprised if she was not. Anyway, she could be Mary Gannon I am not totaly sure. Her name was Stapleton when she came over.

Hi Daniel
Do you know much about Mary's emigration? Dates, the reason why she left, who she may have travelled with etc.? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool), this could be a good place to find more information. Have you tried checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for any of Mary's relatives? The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38): Microfilm copies of the books for all of Ireland are available at the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/tithe-applotment-books-and-the-primary-griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at.

I am also looking for Roscommon Stapletons. My third great grandfather is William Stapleton who was born in 1810 in Roscommon, Ireland and married to Bridget Stapleton. They had two children Patrick and Bridget. Patrick is my second great grandfather and arrived in the US in 1869. My grandmother is Eleanor Henrietta Stapleton, born in 1923 to Harry and Frances Stapleton. Anyway, I don't know if there is any relation, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thank you.
