Hi Angela, thanks for your message and interest in Ireland Reaching out.
There are a number of sources that may help you find information about Garrett.
You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Theses are important genealogical sources for the mid 19th century as unfortunatley no complete census records exist prior to 1901.
Also it would help if you knew what religion the Cassidy family followed?
If they were Roman Catholic the Irishtimes website shows what records exist for a particular parish. For the Banagher/Renagh parish follow this link.
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseact…
If they followed the Church of Ireland the following links may help :
http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
For Presbyterian records may be found in the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm and at the Presbyterian Historical Society http://www.presbyterianhistoryireland.com in Belfast
Also it may be in your interest to check the National Library of Ireland at http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
I hope this helps.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

Thankyou for your replies !
Quite a few possiblities to think about.
Maybe Garrett was Gerard and Regan was Ryan ??
On the English census for 1861 their names were Garrett / Regan.
Thankyou once again !
