James Morgan born in 1828, Owen Morgan born in 1829, John Morgan born in 1833, Peter Morgan born in 1834 & Roseanna Morgan born in 1835 appear in Charleston, South Carolina, United States probably in 1852.  They live near to each other, withess each other's marriages and stand as sponsors for each other's children's baptisms.  Most of them named a male child "Daniel".  Church records, census records newspaper announcements even nationalization forms only say "IRELAND".

Sure would be nice to take these children home!

  • Dear Alice:

I saw your message this evening.  I'm wondering if you are anywhere near Sullivan's Island.  I met a very nice woman from there whose ancestors emigrated there from Tulla.  If you think that this might be of some benefit to you, let me know.

In the meantime, have you tried the Clare County Library website?  www.clarecountylibrary.ie.  They have a wonderful genealogy section, and you can look up your family surname, Morgan in the Tithe Applotment Books.  Also, if you type in the Morgan surname, you might be able to narrow down your search as to what county.  Take a look at the library website and the very best of luck to you.  Please let me know if you think that I can be of further assistance.

    Jane.

  • YES!  YES!  YES!   Several descendants crossed the Cooper River and lived on Sullivans Island and the next island, Isle of Palms.

I have looked in the Tithe Applotment Books - but with out any location there is not much help, there.  I have also looked at later census types of things to see where the "Morgan" name occurs - which is all over!!

Where is Tulla???  I know almost nothing!!  Do you remember that person's name??

Thank you for replying - any encouragment helps.
